Overview

Rapid review of basic techniques of factoring, rational expressions, equations and inequalities; functions and graphs; exponential and logarithm functions; systems of equations; matrices and determinants; polynomials; and the binomial theorem.

Prerequisites

1.5 units of high school algebra; 1 unit of high school geometry. Matriculating students at Illinois require a minimum ALEKS PPL score of 40% to register in this class. For more information visit the ALEKS Exam Assessment page.

This course uses the ALEKS assessment and learning system. Students are required to purchase an ALEKS code to access the course online. The code is non-refundable and costs $75.07. Please see our ALEKS Overview page for more information.

Testing

Exams: This course has a 3-hour final exam. Students must take the final on August 8th  or August 9th, 2025.

Proctorship Information: This course has online exams. ALEKS students will be using Respondus online proctoring for all quizzes and final exams. There is a $10 fee for Respondus. Please see our Exam Proctoring page https://netmath.illinois.edu/exam-proctoring for further instructions.
