This page covers exam proctoring information for the following NetMath Summer Session courses:

Exams for NetMath

  • All exams will be held online.
  • All exams have scheduled exam dates. Any conflicts with posted exam dates must be cleared with instructors immediately upon registration.
  • Courses may have two or three midterm exams and one final exam.
  • Final exams for Summer Session courses will be held on August 7, 2026, unless your course states otherwise.

Math 257 & 285 Midterms & Finals


Math 241, 347, 416, 417, 441 & 444 Midterms & Finals


Necessary Materials (for all NetMath exams)

You will need the following for your exam: 

Computer with internet connection.

Phone/Mobile Device capable of capturing images/scanning documents; or a scanner with email capabilities.

Blank sheets of paper (approximately 15 sheets) with your name, course number, and page number printed across the top of each page.

Photo Identification Card Photo Identification Card (acceptable IDs include driver’s license, school ID, state ID card, passport, etc.; no U.S. Military ID cards can be used due to photocopy restrictions).

Writing utensils (preferably black or blue pen, but dark pencils are also acceptable).

Please note: You will not need a calculator. The use of calculators are not permitted while taking NetMath exams.

Creating Your Gradescope Account (241, 347, 416, 417, 441 & 444)

You will be sent an invitation to your @illinois.edu address.

  1. Follow the link to set your password.
  2. Once you login you will be able to see your exams.
    • Note: You may need to submit a pre-check practice assignment for uploading solutions before your first exam.

Taking Your Midterms (241, 347, 416, 417, 441 & 444)

  • On the date of your midterm, you will log into your course on the Canvas LMS
  • Your exam will be a viewable PDF. You will not print or download your exam.
  • Write your solutions on the blank sheets of paper. Only write on one side of each page.
  • Once you have completed your exam or time has ended, you will need to upload your solutions to Gradescope.
  • Using your mobile phone, create a PDF of your exam solutions.
  • Upload instructions will be provided in your course.

Final Scheduling with ProctorU (241, 347, 416, 417, 441 & 444)

  • Final exams for all courses will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, unless your course states otherwise.
    • If your course uses ProctorU for the final: To secure your slot, follow the ProctorU invitation that will be emailed to you.
    • Schedule your reservation within the timeframe of your course
    • Be sure to select the exam SU26
  • A few minutes before the start of your exam, log into the ProctorU page for your exam to check-in with your proctor.
  • Your proctor will then direct you to your student dashboard, and they will enter a password.

Exam Submissions & Grading

  • All exams are timed. Late submissions risk a grading penalty up to and including a grade of zero.
  • If you encounter technical difficulties during your exam, you must contact the NetMath office as soon as possible, during the exam taking window, at netmath@illinois.edu

Academic Accommodations

  • Contact NetMath as soon as possible regarding academic accommodations.
    • Supporting documentation will be required
  • Accommodation questions should be directed to: instruction@netmath.illinois.edu
  • Due to the 8-week timeframe, it is crucial for students to contact NetMath as quickly as possible to ensure accommodations are in place before starting a summer semester course.

All midterm exams will begin at either 10:00am CDT or 9pm CDT on the day of your exam. Final exam times will be announced within your course.
